They say there is no free lunch—but an exceptional case might have arisen last weekend as songstress, Tigris and Malawian Afro-pop maestro Marco Sadik, teamed up on Sunday, 13 September 2013 at Club XL in Blantyre for a free show.

Tigris performed songs like TOK’s When you cry, and Rihanna’s Diamonds with a live band. Some of the patrons could not help it but move closer as they thought she was lip-synching. Fans flocked the dance floor as Tigris performed Zahara’s Loliwe and Destiny.

Sadik toned down the mood as he came with a melancholic acoustic performance of Kaduwa. The audience soon transformed into a sit-and-listen type as Sadik played Linda, the audience could not help but offer rounds of applause after every song.

Sadik finished with a bang as he got the audience to the dance floor when he performed Mama which he dedicated to all mothers but now with the full band backing.

The artist, who is back home on vacation from Holland where he is studying Audio Engineering, told The Nationthat the show was just to test the ground as they are planning to have a show at the same venue in a few weeks.

“We just came up with an idea last night [Saturday night] to perform together and we want to do it again so in a few weeks we will be performing here again,” he said.

Sadik said he will be in the country for three weeks before returning to Holland to continue with his studies.
